Many people want to know if they can tint there windshield legally.

It makes since, it is the largest window on most cars and lets in the most heat. Tinting your windshield can protect your dash, protect you from the sun and reduce your chances for skin cancer and dramatically reduce temperatures in your car. In addition it can also reduce glare, improve visibility and reduce eye fatigue.

Most people think of tint as being dark which can reduce visibility, but advances in film technology has made it possible to have an almost clear film that reduces more heat than the darker films and improves day and night time visibility.

So can you tint your windshield legally? The answer is yes, but you have to have a medical exception.

So how do I get a medical exception for window tint? You have to see your doctor and get him to write you a medical note or prescription for window tint, then you take that note to the DMV or department of motor vehicles and apply for the exception. The cost to apply is around 5 dollars and they will add it to your drivers license and you will be legal.

Without the medical exception you will not be legal and can be given a ticket. The film we recommend for windshields is almost clear and virtually undetectable. DOT or the Department of Motor Vehicles states that anything under the AS1 line on the windshield is illegal even if it is completely clear. Even though the crystalline 70 is virtually undetectable it is still recommended to get your medical exception to insure you will not be given a ticket.
